Built in the field.

Forged from real-world operations.

Kushai was born from real operational challenges — not from a lab, but from the field.

Every day, organisations deploy drones, cameras, and sensors across remote and complex environments. These systems generate vast volumes of visual data, but turning that data into actionable intelligence remains difficult.

Kushai exists to solve that problem.

We transform cameras, drones, and sensors into intelligent, networked systems that deliver real-time insight — enabling organisations to see, understand, and act with confidence.

Our story: from trusted engineering foundations to visual intelligence

Kushai is a spin-out from KJR, an Australian engineering and software company founded in 1997. For over two decades, KJR has delivered mission-critical systems for defence, aerospace, government, and infrastructure.

Through this work, our team developed deep expertise integrating autonomous platforms, sensors, software, and operational workflows into cohesive intelligence systems.

Between 2022 and 2025, this capability expanded into drone-based monitoring, AI-enabled analysis pipelines, and remote sensing platforms — supporting environmental monitoring, maritime surveillance, and autonomous drone deployments. Kushai Business Concept

These projects revealed a fundamental gap: while sensors were becoming more capable, organisations lacked the systems needed to operationalise their data at scale.

Kushai was created to address this need — building the intelligence layer that connects sensors, platforms, and operations.

Today, Kushai delivers scalable visual intelligence systems that enable autonomous monitoring anywhere on earth.

Our mission:
Operationalise visual intelligence

Visual data is abundant. Actionable intelligence is rare.

Kushai exists to transform raw visual data into operational intelligence.

We integrate:

  • Autonomous drones and sensor platforms

  • AI vision and analytics

  • Edge and cloud-based data processing

  • Operational workflows and automation

Our systems enable organisations to monitor assets, detect events, and respond faster — even in remote, austere, or infrastructure-limited environments.

From raw video to real-time decisions, Kushai makes vision operational.

Built on proven operational capability

Kushai combines startup agility with decades of engineering experience.

Our team brings deep expertise across:

  • Autonomous systems and drone integration

  • AI vision and data analytics

  • Remote sensing and edge computing

  • Mission-critical software systems

  • Defence and aerospace engineering

Our technology builds on real-world deployments, including:

  • Autonomous drone dock and trailer platforms

  • Environmental monitoring and wildlife detection systems

  • Maritime and vessel detection solutions

  • Remote sensing and intelligence platforms Kushai Business Concept

This operational foundation ensures Kushai delivers solutions that work reliably in real environments — not just in theory.

Our Name

Kushai man is a loreman of Australian Indigenous Culture who sees that lore is objectively consistent and true across all tribes and clans. He is a wise traveller passing across wide areas and friend/advisor of all tribes.

The name Kushai was recommended for our business by Goondoi Ranger & Kushai Cultural Advisor John Fejo.

Kushai enables organisations to move beyond data collection to operational intelligence.

  • We turn sensors into systems.

  • We turn data into insight.

  • We turn insight into action.
